Back in 1996, Dakine kicked off its Heli series of packs when it introduced its first low volume backcountry pack loaded with features (for its time, at least), including vertical board carry, diagonal ski carry, and an ice axe loop. Twenty-five years later, the Heli series is still around and better than ever to ensure you’re set up for deep days and steep lines, whether the ascent is human or heli-powered. An homage to that original design, the ’96 Heli Pack 16L borrows some of the look of the original, but with a more optimized feature set thanks to two and a half decades of heli-skiing experience and athlete feedback. Dedicated sleeves for your snow tools in the main compartment and a rescue whistle on the sternum strap ensure quick access to your safety gear if you do ever need it.
