The 2024 Jones Mind Expander is a mind-expanding experience that blends freestyle, freeride, and surf style into one beautiful snowboard. Packed to the brim with Jones tech, the Mind Expander is designed to take the seriousness and aggression out of freeriding, while still staying performance focused across a wide variety of terrain. Jones have collaborated with legendary surf shaper Chris Christenson and built the Mind Expander for any creative rider who likes to blend the worlds of freestyle, freeride and surf style snowboarding. Jones have created the Christenson Surf Camber profile, giving you camber under foot and rocker in the tip and tail for better edge hold under any condition while the stance was moved forward 2cm for better carving. The unique shape of the Mind Expander isn’t just for looks, with the blunted full size tail offering the nimble manoeuvrability of a directional snowboard, with the freestyle ability of a directional twin.

Jones recommend you ride the Mind Expander 4-8cm shorter than your traditional directional freeride board.

Profile: Christenson Surf Camber Rocker

Taking cues from surfboard shapes, the Christenson Surf Camber profile places rocker in the nose just inside the front inserts and in the tail just at the back inserts while having camber underfoot, keeping the nose up with minimal effort while still providing enough edge hold and stability.

Shape: Directional

This board has a setback stance, directional shape, and directional flex pattern, so ride it forwards for optimum performance.

3D Base Contour 3.0

A freeride focused 3D base contour featuring an even balance of 7mm of bevel in the nose and tail. Spoon makes the base roll through turns instead of landing flat, making your turns smoother and more natural.

Progressive Sidecut

This board features a progressive sidecut consisting of two blended radii to accomodate the three stages of a turn. This provides easy turn initiation white offering greater control throughout the turn and maximum power when exiting.

Core: Bamboo Surf Core

Triple-density full wood Paulownia core featuring hardwood bamboo stringers in the pocket of the sidecut for enhanced edge response and turn power.

Biax Fibreglass

A dual-direction, dual-layer, stitched fibreglass laminate that provides a fun, forgiving and snappy ride.

Power Basalt Stringers

Sustainable stringer made with 100% natural fibers. Basalt stringers improve torsional response and transfer power from under your feet to the tips of the board to help eliminate nose and tail chatter.

ECO-Plastic Topsheet

Bio-plastic topsheet made from Castor beans. This ecomaterial is ultralight, chip/scratch resistant and water/ snow repellent (snow sticks less to topsheet).

Carving Insert Pack

Allows more centered stance option for riding firm snow.

Base: Sintered 8000

This new super durable base material is made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and carbon, making it easily repairable, highly wax absorbent, and super fast.

Extra Features:

Bio Resin – All Jones boards are built with bio-based, renewable epoxy instead of petroleum based epoxy. The raw materials used to make Bio Resin are co-products or waste products of other plant-based industrial processes. Producing Bio Resin requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional epoxy.

Traction Tech – Traction Tech features three bumps per edge (front binding, board centre, back binding). The middle bump is slightly bigger than the outside bumps for better grip.

Recycled ABS – ABS Plastic is one of the necessary evils of snowboard production. Jones improve the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic. The rounded sidewall finish improves board durability by protecting the topsheet from chipping.

Wend Bio Wax – Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop and are factory waxed with Wend Bio Wax.

Oversized Recycled Edges – Exactly what it sounds like, enhanced sustainability and added durability.

Factory Tuned – All Jones snowboards are factory de-tuned at the tip and tail, so you can go riding straight away.

Forever Flex –  Jones boards now are finished slightly overbuilt and are broken in using specialised machinery that mimics riding use. This flexes the fibers and epoxy and allows them to settle into their final state, similar to riding the boards for 20 days. This provides a much more accurate flex rating.
